COMMON QUESTIONS – HOW DOES INTER-COUNTY WORK?

  • Competitive teams travel to other clubs for “home” and “away” doubles matches, per the schedule laid out by the ICTA (the season runs from May through August).
  • Players are assigned to courts based on skill level, and captains create weekly lineups, with a focus on competition and team performance.
  • Regular players should be prepared to play most weeks. You may be asked to play as a sub if you cannot commit to regular play. Note that being on a team roster does not guarantee play.
  • Teams may have weekly practices, as organized by the captain(s), if/when courts are made available by the club for this purpose.
  • At the end of the season, top winning teams get promoted and teams at the bottom of the division get demoted.
  • The ICTA league chair determines final placement in levels, geographical area, and promotion/relegation.  For more details about the ICTA, please visit their website: https://intercountytennis.com/
